  • Period Card images do not currently have a text alternative.
  • some interactive elements are not currently focusable and operable using the keyboard.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about this website’s accessibility

My Period Ltd is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances’ listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some images for example the Period Card fact cards do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails ACAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.5 Images of Text.

We plan to add text alternatives for all images. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

Filters are not using the correct role on the website. This fails ACAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 Name, role, value.

We plan to use the appropriate form control for the type of data result being filtered on.

The ‘advice links’ page uses accordions to list the information. These can be operated using a mouse on a desktop and using gestures on mobile but are not keyboard accessible. WCAG Reference: 2.1.1: Keyboard, 4.1.2: Name, role, value

We plan to ensure interactive elements are focusable and operable using the keyboard.

Disproportionate burden

We are not claiming that any of our accessibility issues are disproportionate to fix.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix [example of non-essential document].

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility Recent audits have identified PDFs that do not meet accessibility guidelines. As part of our work to improve the accessibility of this website, we are reviewing our policy on PDFs and other methods of delivering information with a view to making them as accessible as possible.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 21st March 2025. The website and app were last tested on 18th March 2025 by My Period and we continue to run automated tests across the site, to detect compliance with WCAG 2.2 (AA). The automated tests were completed using the latest version of Axe. This was followed by a manual accessibility review of a representative same of pages and content type and was conducted using assistive technology in accordance with the most used (JAWS and NVDA).

We are currently implementing changes based on this test and will update this page with new information about the improvements we make.
